The goal for my GAME plan
is to meet the following ISTE outcomes: “Demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current
knowledge to new technologies and situations” and “Promote, support, and model
creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness” (International Society for Technology in Education,
2008).
So far,
I have been progressing in meeting my goal. I have been busy finding resources
and ensuring that I have a specific thing to work towards. After re-evaluating
my goal it became apparent that I need to create a specific task that would determine
that I have met my goal. After some research about different technology that is
being used in classrooms, I decided that if I create and apply a class Edmodo
site that I would have “Demonstrated
fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new
technologies and situations” as well as “Promote, support, and model creative
and innovative thinking and inventiveness” (International
Society for Technology in Education, 2008). I am excited that I have reworked my goal and made it more specific.
One of the reasons for reworking my goal is that I was finding too much
information. There was so much to choose from and so many different ways that I
could be incorporating technology into my classroom. Now that my goal is more
specific I can look up only resources and information that will be relevant in
meeting my goal.
So far I have learned that specific is better and that a smaller goal is
more attainable and a better place to start. I have also learned that there is
a lot of information and resources, the tough part is finding the ones that are
going to help you reach your goal.
I have an Edmodo account but am still learning how to use it. Any
suggestions on how to get started or ways to implement it in the classroom
would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Jasmin, I am a big proponent of organizing specific tasks for myself to accomplish. For me, it helps me to see what I need to do and physically cross off tasks that I have accomplished. Creating a specific goal for your GAME plan is a great way to truly see how you are coming in regards to reaching your goal. I think it is great that you are planning on implementing a class Edmodo site. Once you have done this, you will know that you have achieved your goal and developed a better understanding of the indicators.
ReplyDeleteI can also see how important setting specific goals for yourself is to help dwindle down the amount of information that you find. As we have discovered through the course of this program, the internet and resources around us provide us with endless information that can be hard to sort through. If we specify our needs and goals, then we will be able to narrow down our search and find more information that is directed to our subject.
Narrowing down your goal and knowing exactly where you are headed is very important. Bravo, for taking a closer look. I agree there is was to much information out there and it is so vary hard to navigate what it is your really looking for.
ReplyDeleteEdmodo is a site I was introduced to last summer and I really like it. It has a Facebook meets classroom feel to it. I like how you can have different groups under one profile and that you can make posts just like Facebook. Plus you can download homework, notes, etc and the students or parents can access it right from there. Also being able to instantly add photos to your profile also like Facebook is an interesting way to get students, parents, and even others staff members interested in joining a topic of discussion.
It sounds like you are off to a great start!
Thank you for the quick Edmodo introduction! It sounds fantastic and I am really enjoying learning it so far.
